2016 Makeup Favourites

I’ve really enjoyed reading other ‘2016 Favourites’ posts, so I thought I’d jump on the band-wagon and share with you what I’ve loved this year. I haven’t chosen something from each category (for example one blush, bronzer, mascara etc), instead I decided to just show you a collection of products that I have used most (and loved doing so) in 2016.

Primer – Heaven Skincare Orange Flower Hydrogel
A gel/serum primer that I find so cooling and relaxing – I love it! Would be ideal if you have dry skin, but I find it also creates a beautifully smooth canvas for foundation. Not sure it really changes the longevity of my base but I use it as a skincare step more than a true priming one – find it here.

Foundation – Nars Sheer Glow|Mont Blanc

A solid medium coverage and a perfect shade match for me have made this cult classic my go-to, no brainer foundation of the year. When I want to sheer it out a little I use a beauty blender, but I always come back to this when I don’t quite know what else I want to use.
Concealer – Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer|Fair

This was a new (very reasonably priced) discovery for me this year. As much as I adore the Nars Radient Creamy Concealer, I looked for a cheaper alternative in 2016 and came across this. It’s a tad more drying (so I don’t know if I’d recommend for very dry skin), but has excellent coverage.
Powder/Bronzer – Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit Palette

I’ve pretty much used every powder in this palette through-out the year, but my most used are the bronzer and setting powders in here. I adore the bronzer, even when I’m extremely fair in the winter it doesn’t look orange on my skin tone!
Blush/Highlight – Becca Champagne Split in Champagne Pop/Flower Child

This  was part of the limited edition of the Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection (review here) and mostly due to them being packaged together making them easy for travel, they’ve become a favourite. This time of the year I mix Champagne Pop and Becca’s Pearl together to get a lighter shade. Flowerchild is the perfect pinky blush for me – so this combo couldn’t be more ideal.

Eyeliner – Kat Von D|Trooper and KISS Gel Liner|Black

I’ve gone through two of the Kat Von D liners this year, I find liner such a quick and easy step in my routine because of this nifty little liner! I mentioned the KISS gel liner in my quick Christmas part makeup look (here), but for a night out this is my ideal liner – it’s completely budge-proof, and as I have oily lids that’s saying something.

Eyeshadow Palettes
Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette
Charlotte Tilbury Vintage Vamp Palette

I really got into eyeshadows this year in a way I have never been before. I only very recently picked up the Modern Renaissance palette from Beauty Bay, but very quickly it has become a firm favourite – I’m sure it will be featuring in loads of peoples posts/videos. Charlotte Tilbury’s eyeshadows are some of the most delicate and blendable that I have ever experienced, and I travelled with this quad everywhere I went in 2016.

Single Eyeshadow – Morphe Pressed Pigment in Make a Statement

My most used single shadow this year was this stunning teal by Morphe – extremely pigmented and different from my normal red-tones, I’ve really enjoyed using it.

Liquid Lipstick – Kat von D|Exorcism
I purchased this deep, purple wine shade in my haul from Debenhams (here), and I’ve worn it for the entirety of the colder months. The formula isn’t too drying and the colour is to die for!
Lipstick – Makeup Revolution|Chauffeur
Resisting rose gold packaging is not something I’m capable of, so it’s brilliant when packaging and product come together really well like this. This nudey-brown shade is my ideal ‘my lips but better’ colour, and the formula is a nice non-drying satin that I just throw on (pretty much every day).
I hope you’ve enjoyed reading my 2016 favourites, what have been some of yours?
