As I mentioned in my August Favourites post, I’m heading to Durham with my boyfriend for a week to just have some time away before university starts up again (we both go to different unis). These are the products I’ll be taking with me – some are for evenings others are for daytime wear. You’ll find a lot of the products I mentioned in my Everyday Products post, because I’m still using plenty of those makeup bits and bobs.
Primer – Hourglass Ambient Lighting Primer
I wear this primer alone often enough that I don’t really think of it as a primer. It just makes my skin look glowy, but sets down extremely quickly so that any products on top stay put. You can find my review here.
Foundation – Nars Sheer Glow
When posted about what I’d been wearing as my everyday makeup this summer, the foundation I had been wearing was L’oreal Lumi Magique. My slight tan has since faded and so, as we head into the more autumnal months, I’ll be reverting to my trusty Nars (shade – Mont Blanc). I probably won’t wear foundation on most of the days we’re there, so this will be used more for evening looks.
Concealer – Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer
This concealer (shade – Vanilla) is something that blends beautifully on me if I want to wear it alone, but also (obviously) sits well on the foundation. I’m also considering taking my Nyx Gotcha Covered concealer to mix with this for days when I need more coverage and more of a highlighting concealer.
Powder – ELF HD Setting powder (loose), Nars Light Reflecting Powder (pressed)
Phew, there’s a lot of Nars products in the base (I’m sorry about that), but I enjoy using this pressed powder all over the face to set, but still not leave me entirely matte. The ELF powder is ideal for travel (it’s tiny), and is what I’ll use to set my under-eyes.
Blush/Highlight/Bronzer – Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit & Makeup Revolution Shimmer Brick
I adore the Hourglass bronzer in this palette and I’m planning on using the blushes from it (as opposed to packing extra). This palette is also stunning for a more subtle highlight (or to set the face). If I want a more intense glow I’v packed the Makeup Revolution Shimmer Brick in Radiant. The lighter shades are the only ones that really work on my skin tone, but its easy to just ignore the other – you can see in the swatches above.
NYX Micro Brow pencil in Ash Brown & Charlotte Tilbury Legendary Brow Sculpting Gel in Linda.
This is a similar combination to the one in my everyday post, except rather than the NYX brow gel, I’ve packed my Charlotte Tilbury one. As this one actually contains pigment, it’s a fast way to do your brows in a rush and so a handy travel companion. You can see my Charlotte Tilbury Haul here, and a look with the products I purchased here.
Eyeshadows – Zoeva Cocoa Blend palette & Charlotte Tilbury Luxury Palette – Vintage Vamp
I am so ready for Autumn with these shades! Lots of beautiful warm hues and browns in two sleek palettes. Both are so perfect for travelling and I couldn’t choose between the two – so why not take both?
Mascara & Liners – YSL Volume Effect Faux Cils, Kat Von D Ink Liner – Trooper, Makeup Geek Full Spectrum Liner – Plumeria.
The mascara and Kat Von D liner are the same as in my everyday post, so I shan’t bore you with why I’m taking them; however the Makeup Geek liner is very new. I picked it up in my Beauty Bay haul, and haven’t used it yet!
Lipstick & Liner – MAC Ruby Woo Lipstick/Liner, YSL Rouge Volupte Lipstick No. 1 – Nude Beige, Milani Colour Statement Lipstick – Cabaret Blend
If I need a red that I know will work, Ruby Woo is my go to. The YSL lipstick is more of an everyday shade, that can also work in the evening with a more bold eye. The Milani lipsticks smell awful to me (like that fake watermelon smell) but this berry colour just screams autumn at me – I couldn’t not pack it!
Thanks for reading, I hope this helps anyone else packing for going away…
