The Autumnal Edit: Thinking Fall

Now that it’s October, I feel that it’s safe to say Autumn has set in – with it’s cold, windy days and nights where the heating goes on. Personally, winter is my favourite season (Christmas and my birthday a month apart is hard to beat!), but I just adore the makeup change-up that happens around this time. Out goes the light, dewy base and in comes a slightly more matte finish, as well as berry tones. All the items below make me think of Autumn – warm tones, reds and oranges.

Zoeva Cocoa Blend Palette

I took this palette away with me recently to Durham – you can see all the makeup I packed in this post here (or swatches here). The reason being that it’s a stunning, deep brown and red toned palette where all the shades are buttery and blend-able. I can’t look at this palette without thinking of cold weather and Autumn leaves.

Single Shadows – Makeup Geek, Coloured Raine & Makeup Forever
Firstly, and you might already know this by now, I’m currently having a love affair with red eyeshadows. I picked up the shade Morello Cherry (MUFE) only two weeks ago and I’m already in love. My other picks for matte shades would be Makeup Geek’s Bitten (a deeper burgundy) and Cocoa Bear. As for metallics, Flamethrower (MUG) and Coloured Raine’s Golden Olive and Pumpkin Pie (review) are ideal for this season.

Illamasqua Powder Blush in Excite

This is the blush that has carried me through the summer months – my ideal for the everyday. Now, you might be asking why I’d include it in a Fall edit. The colour. I wear this shade in summer because Illamasqua blushes are so pigmented (and this colour is so intense), that it’s the only time I can get away with this russet shade on my fair skin. If you have a deeper skin tone this shade will be stunning on you for this season!

Lips – Kat Von D, NYX, Smashbox

My three picks for Autumn lips (I rhymed) have to be Kat Von D’s everlasting liquid lipstick in Exorcism (haul post here), NYX intense butter gloss in Toasted Marshmallow and Smashbox gloss in Superstar. My dry lips still need some gloss in the colder months (as much as I enjoy matte lips), so that’s why I’ve included two glosses here. One is extremely pigmented whilst the other is just a wash of colour and sparkle.

These were all the things in my collection that just made me think of the fall-time. What are yours?

Thanks for reading
